Happy New Year! We will not be shipping plants in 2022, but hope to resume in 2023. In the meantime, I recommend Seed Savers Exchange and Territorial Seeds for ordering live plants. They both have good quality and a good selection. Thank you for being the best customers that any business could hope for, and happy gardening! -Margie

The fruits can get up to 1 lb.or more, and are green mottled with yellow, and have a pink blush on the blossom end when ripe. Like other large heirlooms, be careful not to let them get too ripe. Hefty beef steak type fruits that have the deep color and amazing flavor of "black" tomatoes... 80 to 90 days, Indeterminate, Heirloom, Potato Leaf. With "Brandywine" in it's name you know it's gotta be good! Generous fruit size, deep red/brown/purple color, and that very rich, sweet, smoky flavor that black tomatoes are known for. The vines get large and produce quite abundantly for such a large tomato. Does well in hot and muggy Southern Missouri. There is a tendency to crack. Like with all large heirloom tomatoes, it is best to prune lightly, if at all, so leaf cover will keep sun off the fruits. This is the heirloom Black Brandywine that was bred in the 1920's by Dr. Harold Martin and handed down by William Woys Weaver. We ship every Monday and Tuesday, from late March through late May, to the 48 contiguous states. We schedule your shipment to arrive just after the last frost date for your area. • First ship date is March 22. Free shipping with $35 purchase! Please note: We now ship via UPS. Immensely popular large, pink, sweet and flavorful heirloom tomato... 80 Days, Indet. OP. Heirloom. Brandywine started the heirloom tomato craze. The exact opposite of a supermarket tomato: Very sweet, tasty, and juicy. Also, not disease resistant, not crack resistant, and prone to being ugly. But with such flavor, who cares?? Very large, pink fruits, often w/green shoulders. The Suddath's strain is less prone to ugliness than the original Brandywine. Most of our fruits were pretty enough to market, with a uniform round shape and little concentric cracking. This strain was also more productive for us than any other we have grown. Don't prune plant to provide sun scald protection. A potato leaved tomato plant. Pink, very tasty fruits average 2 lbs, but can get substantially larger. We did not intend to offer this variety, as we already have more pink tomatoes than we think we need, but were given some free seed. So, we grew a few plants, and we were sold! Giant Belgium has the same terrific flavor as Brandywine, but is larger, more cosmetically perfect, and is more productive. It is later to produce, but keeps going over a long season. Vigorous vine produces big bunches of huge pink tomatoes which are oxheart shaped, meaty, and have fantastic flavor. The tomatoes are relatively dry and have few seeds - perfect for processing. But also great on a sandwich due to its superb flavor - a good balance of sweet and acid. The plant is unlike other oxheart tomatoes. It is sturdy, not wispy, and has plenty of foliage. Seed was given to us by our mailman in the Ozarks, Mark Barton. He had been preserving this variety for years. He was given the seed by Joe Cockman, who had grown the variety here in the Ozarks for many years after receiving seeds from Dan Turner, who used to sell the tomatoes at the Farmer's Market here in Alton, Missouri over 70 years ago. No one now knows what the original name was, so we call it "Joe's Pink Oxheart."
