Open pollinated. Stunning burgundy red pods are long and slender, and stay tender to 6". Tall ( 4 to 6 feet) plant has burgundy stems, leaf margins, and flower centers, and is pretty enough to grow in a flower border. Plant is very productive if you keep it picked. 1983 AAS winner. Okra requires quite a lot of heat to produce and does not like cold nights, so put it in your warmest spot if you are in the north, like against the south side of your house. Frost tender annual that is best planted after the soil is good and warm. Okra is not happy in spring weather. Within 24 hours of receiving your order, we will e-mail you with a shipping date that we choose based on your last frost date. You are welcome to change the date to any other shipping week. Just respond to the e-mail and tell us when you want your plants. Our first shipping date is late March, weather permitting. We will not have plants available before then. Early and productive okra that is better adapted to the north than most... 40 to 45 days from transplant. Open pollinated. Classic tender, green okra pods are produced on a short (for okra) 3' to 4' plant. This okra is suitable for large containers and to grow in the north where other okras do not get enough heat. It is quick to produce, and continues to produce until frost. Pods have classic okra taste and are best picked at 6" or shorter. Classic green okra is very productive over a long season... 55 to 65 days from transplant, Open pollinated, Heirloom. Spineless plants are less irritating to pick from. Clemson spineless is a classic okra that has green, ribbed pods produced on strong, tall plants. Best picked when under 4" long, as they lose tenderness when they get larger. Great flavor, and an all-time favorite. Plants will keep producing until frost if kept picked. Our plants are more than 7' tall by October!
