Happy New Year! We will not be shipping plants in 2022, but hope to resume in 2023. In the meantime, I recommend Seed Savers Exchange and Territorial Seeds for ordering live plants. They both have good quality and a good selection. Thank you for being the best customers that any business could hope for, and happy gardening! -Margie

    $7.65

Easy to grow just about anywhere, but will do best in partial shade and a healthy garden soil with regular water. Peppermint is a cross between watermint and spearmint. Unlike spearmint, it is very high in menthol, and so is used for a whole host of cooling, soothing functions. It has a sharper flavor than spearmint, and is used to flavor candies, mints, and lozenges. Due to it's cooling properties, it can ease a sore throat and sore muscles. It is also used as a decongestant. I like to make a decoction to soothe sunburn, and a tea to sip and breathe in the steam when I have a cold. Like other mints, it can be invasive Mint tea has long been used as a refreshing drink that's also said to relieve indigestion, alleviate motion and morning sickness, calm nerves, induce sleep, and reduce the effects of heat prostration. When planted as a companion to cabbage or strewn between any vegetables of the genus Brassica, peppermint helps deter the white cabbage butterfly. Low growing and spreading, peppermint can take over your garden if you don't contain it. I recommend growing it in pots or in an area where you don't mind it's spreading nature.
